Jeep Wrangler Polar special edition announced

The Wrangler Polar features exclusive design touches such as the Hydro Blue paint job, 18-inch black gloss alloy wheels and body-coloured hardtop. The name Polar comes from the harsh, snowy conditions in the polar regions and Jeep has even fitted 78° S and 106° E coordinates as a badge. This corresponds to the location of Vostok in Antarctica – the exact point where the lowest temperature in the world was recorded, at -89.2° C.

Inside, standard kit includes heated front seats, a leather steering wheel, cruise control, climate control, a 6.5-inch infotainment system with sat nav and white detail stitching on the seats and steering wheel.

Power comes from a 200bhp 2.8-litre CRD engine, delivering 460Nm of torque, which is paired with a five-speed automatic gearbox. The Polar is also fitted with a Track-Lok limited-slip rear differential, which replaces the manual rear-axle locker for maximum traction and stability on tougher terrain.

Available as either a two-door or a four-door, the Jeep Wrangler Polar will be available in the first quarter of 2014 priced similarly to other special editions of the Wrangler, at around £28,000.
