Chevron GR8
UK-based specialist race car construction company Chevron have revealed the production specifications and images of their latest vehicle, the GR8.
The GR8, which is the company's first all-new coupe for forty years, uses some of the design cues from Chevron's previous B8 coupe model. Although for the new car the bodywork has been made considerably sharper and more contemporary.

The Chevron GR8 has been designed from the outset as a race car, not a road car. It will also get it's own one-make race series called the Chevron GR8 Challenge - which should make for a pretty good spectacle thanks to the car's 400 hp-per-ton power to weight ratio. Two rounds of the GR8 Challenge Series will be run at each of a planned eight BARC meetings per year. Races will feature rolling starts. Entries are open to either one or two drivers. With a team of two, the idea is for each to contest one round. Accepting entries for two drivers creates obvious opportunities for sharing costs. As part of a comprehensive entrant support package, Chevron plans to have a pool car on hand as a spare should a competitor’s own GR8 be unable to start a race for whatever reason.
For the drivetrain Chevron enlisted the help of Cosworth, one of the most respected names in the powertrain engineering industry. Mounted in the center of the car is a Cosworth developed 2.0 litre, inline 4 cylinder Duratech (YD) engine which produces 255 horsepower @ 8,200 rpm. This is mated to a Hewland gearbox driving the rear wheels. The LCD instrument panel of the GR8 also comes courtesy of Cosworth. This unit offers clear and concise read outs - essential for racing, and seamless integration with the Cosworth ECU (Electronic Control Unit) data.
