2015 Buick Avenir Concept

Buick is setting new sales records with 1.2 million vehicles sold in 2014. To put this in perspective, the only other times that Buick has sold over a million cars was in 1984 and the previous sales year of 2013. The reason for this success is China, a nation where Buick enjoys great popularity, and where 4x as many Buicks are sold as in the United States.
The full size Avenir is a showcase of Buick design themes highlighted over the past few decades and utilized on a full-size sedan. The sloping rear deck pays homage to the third generation boat-tail Buick Riviera built from 1971-1973. The front features Buick's signature waterfall grille, with a horizontal band and the return of Buick's tri-shield insignia. The side has the sweep spear crease that has been a part of Buick design for many decades, and famous on such classics as the 1953 Buick Sklyark.
There are no plans to build the Avenir, despite its positive critical reception, and the fact that Avenir is French for "future." It is more of a design showcase for a renewed brand that will no doubt be producing more interesting cars in the years ahead.
