1990 Jaguar XJR-15

The lesser known Jaguar supercar of the 90’s, the XJR-15 was built for a new racing series called the Intercontinental Challenge, but played second fiddle to the well known Jaguar XJ220. Don’t for a second think this is the poor slow cousin in the Jaguar family, as it was capable of a mighty 215 mph top speed from the big V12 which was packed into a very light weight chassis.

Only made in a limited run of 50 cars or so, this was a partnership between Jaguar Sport and Tom Walkinshaw Racing. TWR used the basic engine and chassis layout of the XJR-8, and enlisted Peter Stevens to design and style the body work. Road going versions were made with minor adjustments to make them street legal. This however had one major downside, with the aerodynamics and suspension being compromised due to the ride height being raised. As a result the performance of the car was affected, and became a shadow of the race going versions.
